The Madiun House Interior Highlights the Use of Luxurious Marbles
Owned by young family with a marble family business, the use of marbles highlights the interior concept of Madiun House. Spoiled by the varieties of marble pattern, subtle and modern patterns are chosen to make a stand out but perfectly blend in with the whole interior.
The natural landscape of marble quarries has been the inspiration to the whole interior concept. Despite the luxurious characteristic of marbles, the nature scene is highlighted into the design to remind that mother nature has provided the marbles and inspired human beings.
This is translated through the chosen pattern, such as the geometric square pattern inspired by cubical marble quarries scene as seen in the foyer. Furthermore, a forest wallpaper is applied on the camouflage in the foyer, as seen in the surrounding of the quarries.
The analogy of finding a natural beauty after exposing the quarries is also translated in the flower petal mosaic applied as the backdrop of a see-through door cabinets. The island in the pantry also has a mountain-like pattern, becoming the focal point of the living area.
All the elements are bonded through the colour scheme expressed from the landscape which is generally white, green, black, and grey.
The open space plan is applied to create a better communication within the space. The result is the connectivity between living, dining, and pantry area with the pantry island as the heart of the house. The elongated and curvy block shapes initiate a good circulation for the kitchen activity, yet remain blissful to have as the focal point for conversational pieces.
The use of marbles is also a perfect fit for Indonesia as a tropical country, since the material is cold, durable, and easy to mop and wipe. Having marbles as the main material also keeps the ideal temperature and seizes the needs of easy dust removal, thus becomes a long-term investment as the material is hardly damaged.
Working with a lot of marble varieties, it is important to dive deep into the pros and cons of each type, from the pattern, colour, size, to the character of the marbles. Each pattern needs to be designed thoroughly where the cuts and joints will be. Other alternative materials still in line with the overall interior concept are also used to balance the high budget of using marbles.
