After Dr CHA Chi-ming, the late founder and chairman of the Group, acquired the equity interest of Hong Kong Resort Company Limited, which is the registered owner and developer of Discovery Bay on Lantau Island in Hong Kong,  in 1977, the Group has progressed into a leading developer of groundbreaking living and lifestyle space. Between 1988 and 1989, the Group underwent a series of reorganisation and schemes of arrangement leading to the formation of HKR International Limited (HKRI) (HK Stock Code: 00480) in May 1989 as its new listed holding company. Throughout the years, we have built a variety of signature projects across Asia. Discovery Bay is HKRI’s landmark development in Hong Kong and the Group’s first project in the real estate industry. Over the past four decades, HKRI has continued developing residential, commercial and community facilities in Discovery Bay, supported by innovative, world-class infrastructure. Taking a visionary concept to reality, Discovery Bay is now a fully integrated resort-style residential community which is home to about 20,000 residents of over 50 nationalities.  During the course of development, HKRI has moved beyond a property developer in Hong Kong to a conglomerate with various businesses across Asia. In particular, HKRI Taikoo Hui, HKRI’s flagship project in mainland China, is a world-class mixed-use commercial development that has quickly been recognised as a new landmark in Puxi, Shanghai since its launch in 2017.
