Plus Architecture is partnering with the award-winning Gambaro Group to create Persone, a world class contemporary Italian dining experience within the new W Hotel development at 300 George St, Brisbane.
Still family owned, Gambaro Group are one of Queensland’s leading restauranteurs, with multi-award-winning Gambaro Restaurant, winner of Australia’s Best Seafood Restaurant 2017 Restaurant & Catering Association Awards for Excellence and the Black Hide Steakhouse, winner of Queensland’s Best Steakhouse, 2017 Restaurant & Catering Association Awards for Excellence.
Persone will be the brand’s first venture into traditional Italian fare, which for the company represents a homecoming to the company’s Italian heritage.
Plus Architecture has been engaged to deliver a world-class contemporary bar and restaurant, featuring a breezy alfresco balcony overlooking the Brisbane River, as well as two private dining rooms and a glamorous long bar.
“Our creative concept and design philosophy for Persone is La Dolce Vita, which literally translates as ‘The Sweet Life’”, says Plus Architecture’s Director of Interior Design Sarah Townson. “We were inspired by Italian laneways and the hidden, mysterious niches which permeate European dining culture.”
Embracing a distinctly European ethos of dining as an extended way of life, the design of Persone is a juxtaposition of illusion and refraction. It is also a celebration of local produce.
The palette is based on a black and white charcuterie with glimpses of a Limoncello yellow, inviting textures and a showcase bar area – filtered through a creative interpretation of the Queensland way of life. Persone will be a place for locals and international guests alike – a much loved addition to the Australian dining scene.
“This is an opportunity for our designers to showcase their international experience to create something truly unique for Brisbane,” says Director of Plus Architecture Danny Juric. “We’re excited to be partnering on this fantastic project.”
