In response to growth in the life science and technology sectors, DHL Supply Chain (‘DHL’) wanted to establish a statement headquarters in Dublin that would set the standard for logistics facilities though meeting LEED Gold and BREEAM Excellent carbon neutral sustainability credentials. Contracting Calibro for the design and fit out, the 22,000 square foot office fitout would also need to accommodate a growing hybrid workforce, reflect the company’s culture and values, as well as leave a lasting brand impression on all who visit.
Entering the foyer, visitors are greeted by striking cut-outs of FilaSorb™ felt in bold shades ‘Lipstick Red’ and ‘Butter’, juxtaposed against natural wood elements. The color scheme harmoniously reflects DHL’s corporate identity while adding vibrancy to the space. On the ceiling, Truss baffles in the ‘Slate’ colorway lead the eye through the room while providing Class A acoustics, offering a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 1.65.
Over the corridor in the staff breakout area, Truss baffles have been hung over the breakfast bar, this time in Acoufelt’s WoodBeQuiet™ ‘Wine Barrel’ print, seamlessly matching the wood finishes of the bar and stools below. This design ethos extends to the boardroom, where more Truss baffles and custom-cut Fracture wall panels in color ‘Slate’ complement the existing grey tones of the table, chairs and carpet. Both baffles and Fracture panels have been cleverly integrated with LED strip lighting for a sleek, modern aesthetic, while simultaneously absorbing sound and reducing echo within the boardroom.
With sustainability at the forefront of their design plans, DHL and Calibro selected every finish with careful consideration as to its material origin, manufacturing processes and recyclability at end–of–life. Acoufelt’s FilaSorb™ products are generated using 40% solar energy, comprised of a minimum 60% recycled PET content, and are recyclable at their end-of-life. Moreover, each collection boasts a Declare ‘Red List Free’ label and Indoor Air Quality certification, contributing to the BREEAM Excellent and LEED Gold accreditations for the project.
DHL’s Dublin headquarters exemplifies how top-tier sustainability goals can be achieved without compromising on beautiful and functional design, thanks to environmentally conscious suppliers like Acoufelt. DHL’s finished workspace now reflects the high standards and quality the company delivers every day to its customers.
