The 24-hour-run Kangy Angy Maintenance Facility was purpose-built for the new intercity fleet, where trains will be washed, maintained and serviced. It is close to 500,000 square metres in size, has approximately six kilometres of electric rail lines, a new rail bridge, offices and amenities. The facility will service customers travelling from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains and South Coast. Ampelite EEFAS was chosen for its thermal advantages over traditional skylighting. The level of comfort without glare and abundance of natural light make for a pleasing working environment. EEFAS seamlessly integrates with insulated panel and is fully trafficability which aids installation and safety, paramount for a project of this nature. For the project Acoustic Plus noise reduction technology was integrated within the EEFAS panel. This was important due to the facilities proximity to the neighbouring town and requirement to suppress noise levels.
