Window Film maintains home appearance while solving heat issues
Film: OptiTune 30
Size of job: 45m2
Installer: All About Window Tinting
Project Task
Homeowners Veronica Laycock and her husband were having trouble with the heat load of their two-storey home located in the Yarra Ranges, east of Melbourne. On sunny days, the upstairs floor would get exceptionally hot. They had a couple of choices available to them to alleviate the heat: roller blinds or shutters. But due to the way roller shutters would negatively impact the home’s exterior appearance, window film proved to be the only possible solution moving forward.
Solution
The couple asked Andrew Booth from All About Window Tinting to provide some options for window film that would suit their requirements.
Based on Andrew’s suggestions, OptiTune 30 was chosen for its appearance and heat rejection properties. The film was applied to the windows on all sides of the house in order to provide a uniform appearance.
Outcome
Veronica noticed the effect of the film immediately. “I could tell straight away that the film had an effect on reducing the upstairs heat,” she said.
OptiTune 30, while cutting out glare on sunny days, did not impact the natural light level of the house.
“There was no significant difference was observed with the amount of light coming inside the house,” said Veronica. “We’re very happy with it.”
