ASI JD MacDonald announce the launch of a new, extensive BIM (Revit) library.
Observing the building design industry's rapid adoption of BIM processes, ASI JD MacDonald acknowledged the importance of continued investment in BIM to ensure they were providing specifiers with high quality, practical design tools.
To achieve this, ASI JD MacDonald partnered with IGS BIM Solutions, an Australian company who are internationally recognised as industry leaders in BIM content creation for both Building Product Manufacturers (BPM's) and building design professionals, and who are especially known for their experience and expertise in Revit content creation.
The new ASI JD MacDonald Revit library includes content for a vast range of commercial washroom accessories. All families have been developed one hundred per cent natively in Revit with the objective of finding balance between functionality, documentation output, visualisation capabilities and performance in a Revit project environment.
To further assist Revit users with assessing, browsing and utilising the library, a âContent User Guideâ, as well as a âVirtual Showroomâ have been created. The user guide provides an overview of the library and insights into the Revit family creation methodologies, whilst the Virtual Showroom can be used to browse the entire library of families within a single Revit project, as an RVT file.
Dominic Martens is the Design Technology Leader for Silver Thomas Hanley (STH), one of Australiaâs leading Architectural practices specialising in healthcare design. About manufacturers providing BIM content, Dominic stated, âitâs always pleasing to receive a well-developed BIM content library from a product supplier, however, the quality of the manufacturer Revit libraries we see varies greatly and quality is the key factor in assessing if we can use it or not. Unfortunately, a lot of manufacturers greatly underestimate the importance of this.â About the ASI JD MacDonald Revit library, Dominic observed, âthe Revit library IGS has created for ASI JD MacDonald is extensive and to their usual high standard, showing acute understanding of how Revit content should be created to work well in an Architectural project environment. The models perform efficiently, they incorporate sufficient, consistently structured data and the documentation quality is excellent. The integration of AS1428 compliance aides is an excellent addition. Iâm sure many design firms who use Revit to document their projects will find this library to be a valuable resource, as we will when we are specifying ASI JD MacDonaldâs products.â
ASI JD MacDonald is committed to the continued maintenance and development of this Revit content library as the industry and BIM workflows evolve over time.
The ASI JD MacDonald Revit library is currently available via the ASI JD MacDonald website www.asijdmacdonald.com.au and to users of the cloud-based Revit content management platform âUNIFIâ by subscription.
