Background
Located in Melbourneâs suburbs, Ercildoune homestead is a former farming property dating back to 1850.
The homestead built in 1888 is a well-preserved example of a Victorian Italianate villa and is one of a small number of surviving farmhouses.
In March 2023 the restored homestead and surrounding landscape were opened by council as a valuable community space for locals to come together to connect, belong, learn and play.
This refurbishment, including the washroom facilities, of the homestead has allowed the space to be available as a community centre, and also as a co-working space for local business and health providers.

Challenge
To meet the councilâs needs the most efficient option was for them to partner with a single source supplier of washroom accessories and toilet partitions for the community centre.
The council required modern, reliable and sustainable products to be delivered with a quick turnaround time and supplied with maximum value. In addition to supply, the toilet partitions also needed expert installation on site.
To eliminate paper towel usage for sustainability and practicality reasons the decision was made to use modern hand dryers.
Many of the washroom product solutions needed by community members had to be accessible compliant.
Solution
ASI JD MacDonald is committed to providing the highest quality washroom accessories and toilet partitions for projects of all sizes and requirements, from large sporting stadiums and office buildings through to small projects such as the homestead refurbishment. The collection of washroom accessories was provided to meet councilâs requirements and to allow the community access to all modern facilities in a refurbished and historic homestead.
