The new home of Rixon Hair was designed with the objective of creating an intelligently planned, inclusive workspace, which reflects a sense of community and tranquility. The reception area is an important feature of the salon, being a critical pivot in the operations of the salon and the first point of entry for clients. It sets the tone for the salon and delivers a carefully considered first impression for customers as they exit the elevator and enter the salon space. With these design requirements considered, a dramatic Staron-clad reception unit was created to draw the eye into the salon. The durable, non-porous and monolithic nature of Staron makes it the perfect surface solution as hair colour stains are never permanent and maintenance is easy. LED lights were also added to the unit with a plywood product shelf that extends to a service counter. The two materials complement each other harmoniously to create an inviting feature into the salon that welcomes clients while also creating a functional working space for staff.
