Double Glazing Energy Efficient Upgrades
As we continue to see the positive impact of the NCC 2022 in making new homes more energy efficient, a significant advancement is now underway to enhance the energy efficiency of existing homes, paving the way for a sustainable future.
In support of the Australian Government’s $1 billion initiative for clean green energy, Westpac has become the first bank to partner with the CEFC’s Household Energy Upgrades Fund. By accessing $160 million from the Fund, Westpac is able to offer at least $320 million through its low-interest Sustainable Upgrades Home Loan.
This innovative loan specifically highlights Double Glazing as one of the ten eligible energy efficiency upgrades. The loan functions as a second home loan, offering up to $50,000 for the upgrades. All Double Glazed Windows and glass doors must feature a Window Energy Rating Scheme (WERS) Total System U-Value of 4.0 or lower and be installed by an accredited Australian Glazing and Window Association (AGWA) member.
With over 11 million existing homes in Australia and the far majority being built before minimum building codes even existed, AGG applauds Westpac for this forward-thinking initiative. Not only will it enhance the energy efficiency of our existing homes but also supports our national commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Such upgrades will also significantly improve the comfort, health, and well-being of homeowners while reducing their energy costs.
