Bildspec is Australia’s premier supplier of acoustic operable walls and sliding acoustic doors nationally. Bildspec was founded in 1969 by Sydney engineer, John Ellacott. Initially serving as the NSW distributor for a foreign company's folding doors and operable walls, the business took a pivotal turn in the mid-1980s when its overseas partner ceased operations. Seizing the opportunity, Bildspec transitioned to producing its own line of operable walls using top-notch locally sourced components. Concurrently, the company relocated from Redfern to a manufacturing hub in Marrickville, and then to Regents Park. In 2019, John Ellacott retired, and Bildspec changed hands to The Kaplan Door Group, parent company of The Australian Trellis Door Company. With sustained growth, the company shifted its manufacturing base from Marrickville to a state-of-the-art facility in Regents Park, NSW.
