Initially serving as the NSW distributor for a foreign company's folding doors and operable walls, the business took a pivotal turn in the mid-1980s when its overseas partner ceased operations. Seizing the opportunity, Bildspec transitioned to producing its own line of operable walls using top-notch locally sourced components. Concurrently, the company relocated from Redfern to a manufacturing hub in Marrickville, and then to Regents Park. Swiftly gaining recognition for delivering top-tier products with rapid turnaround times and exceptional value, Bildspec's reputation soared. In 2019, John Ellacott retired, and Bildspec changed hands to The Kaplan Door Group, parent company of The Australian Trellis Door Company. Expanding its reach, Bildspec commenced operations in Victoria and Queensland in 2020, and then Australia-wide in 2021. With sustained growth, the company shifted its manufacturing base from Marrickville to a state-of-the-art facility in Regents Park, NSW.
