Touchless Bathrooms - The future of commercial bathroom design

For a long time, Bradley Corp and Bradley Australia has understood the importance of touchless technology within commercial bathroom design.

Sensor tapware, soap dispensers, dryers and sanitisers have been a part of our range for many many years. 

The first installation of our Washbar in Australia was completed in 2018 as an answer to better accessibility in the Melbourne International Arrivals Terminal. This is an entirely touchless handwashing station which complies with the AS1428.1 and requires less movement with wet hands and therefor lower risk of litigation issues. 

In 2019 we established an exclusive partnership with Schafe, a German company manufacturing touchless partition systems. Recently we have completed our first installation of these systems in Australia's first entirely touchless bathroom. Already this project has been a huge success in creating a safer, more hygienic solution encouraging tenants to return to work. 

According to Science based research, many potentially infectious bacteria, viruses, yeasts and moulds can survive on surfaces for considerable amounts of time.

Pathogens that land on a surface have the ability to survive and thrive in warm, moist areas such as bathrooms and healthcare environments.

In coronavirus studies, the most resilient viruses took up residence on non-porous plastic and steel. Infectious particles have been detected on both surfaces for up to 72 hours.

By reducing the need to touch surfaces and objects touched by others through the use of touchless products, possible germ-transfer sites are reduced.

As Designers, the general public rely on you to ensure they have a safe, hygienic environment to work, travel and enjoy. 

For many workplaces, creating a touchless environment has boosted the level of staff comfort concerning the washroom, in many cases allowing them to use the facilities without touching even one surface from the time the enter the washroom to the time they exit. 

These include: auto-on and auto-off faucets; automatic, self-flushing toilets and urinals; auto-on and auto-off soap dispensers; automatic paper towel dispensers; automatic hand dryers and toilet seat covers activated by the touch of a button.
