Capral Aluminium has recently relocated its primary NSW distribution hub to a new facility in Huntingwood NSW. Having outgrown the Erskine Park warehouse and distribution facility, Capral committed to finding a new central location to meet the expanding operational needs of its business.
The new site located in Huntingwood is well positioned to service Capralâs state-wide distribution requirements â only 5 minutes from the M4 and 7 minutes from the M7/M4 interchange. The site is also centrally located to Capralâs two NSW extrusion manufacturing sites in Penrith and Smithfield.
Kurt Kavanagh, State Manager Building Systems comments âOur Erskine Park site had been at capacity over the past few years. Capral has seen significant growth throughout 2020 and 2021 and we canât see that slowing down as demand for locally stocked, Australian aluminium continues to grow. Staying at Erskine Park was not an option, it was placing a heavy operational strain on the business. We want to meet and exceed our customersâ needs and to do that we needed more space.â
Capral extrudes, stocks and supplies a wide range of standard and custom extrusion, sheet and plate products at its NSW site. The NSW operation services customers in industrial, manufacturing and construction sectors as well as window & door and screening manufacturers producing Capralâs own proprietary window and door systems.
âIn addition to needing to be able to stock more material so we can consistently meet our customersâ supply expectations, we have also seen increased demand for finished aluminium extrusion. Our new site has space for a state-of-the-art vertical powder coat line from SAT in Italy, which we plan to commission in late 2022 that will allow us to meet customer demand for high quality, powder coated aluminium extrusion.â Said Kurt.
The 11,600sqm warehouse underwent significant capital improvement by the landlord Charter Hall to meet Capralâs unique operational needs. The 1200 sqm office space was extensively renovated and now hosts the NSW Sales and Customer Service Teams along with Capralâs Corporate office.
When you walk through the warehouse you canât help but be impressed by the sheer scale of Capralâs NSW operations, the site includes more than 420 lineal metres of double sided bulk cantilever racking storing aluminium cases and 800 lineal metres of A-Frames for picking individual profiles.
The central location enables more than 50 truck movements per day with distribution runs extending all over Sydney and regional NSW.
âWe feel confident this site will allow Capralâs NSW operations to continue to grow well into the future and that our service to customers will continue to improve out of this location. We have more in stock, transport is easier, and we will soon commission our vertical powder coat line allowing us to provide our customers with improved, quality and lead times on finished product. It really is an exciting move for Capral and its NSW customersâ
