Capral Aluminium has announced its recent membership with the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC), a pivotal step that underscores the company's unwavering commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing. This partnership highlights Capral's dedication to advancing the use of responsibly sourced lower-carbon aluminium in infrastructure practices and further cements its leadership position in this space.
In alignment with its sustainability goals, Capral's LocAl® lower carbon aluminium has been officially listed on the ISC's ISupply database. This inclusion allows LocAl® to contribute towards the IS Rating Scheme, an industry-recognised framework for evaluating sustainability in infrastructure projects. Integrating Capral's lower carbon aluminium into the ISC's rating scheme provides project developers with robust, environmentally friendly material options that support their sustainability objectives.
Capral's Commitment to Sustainability and Responsible Procurement
As Australia's largest manufacturer and distributor of aluminium profiles, Capral has long been at the forefront of sustainable practices within the industry. The company's dedication to reducing its own carbon footprint and promoting environmentally responsible procurement strategies has been integral to its operations.
Commenting on this significant milestone, Capral Aluminium's Managing Director and CEO Tony Dragicevich stated:
"Joining the Infrastructure Sustainability Council reflects our deep commitment to fostering sustainable infrastructure development. At Capral, responsible procurement strategies and sustainable sourcing are not just industry buzzwords, but essential practices. Our LocAl® low carbon aluminium is a testament to our efforts in providing market-leading, sustainable aluminium solutions. We are excited to support our partners and clients achieve their sustainability goals through innovative and environmentally responsible products."
The Importance of LocAl® Low Carbon Aluminium
Capral's LocAl® range stands out as a prime example of innovation in sustainable material sourcing. Offering a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to traditional aluminium products, LocAl® supports the construction industry's shift towards lower carbon building practices.
Using LocAl® aluminium, infrastructure projects can substantially reduce their embodied carbon, aligning with global trends and regulatory requirements to mitigate climate change. The inclusion of LocAl® in the ISC's ISupply database ensures that customers have access to products that are not only high in quality but also in sustainability credentials.
Enhancing Sustainability in Infrastructure Projects
The Infrastructure Sustainability Council's IS Rating Scheme is a critical tool for assessing and promoting sustainable practices across infrastructure projects in Australia and beyond. It provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating infrastructure projects' environmental, social, and economic performance, encouraging best practices and innovation.
With Capral's LocAl® aluminium now part of the ISC's ISupply database, project developers can earn valuable points under the IS Rating Scheme by choosing LocAl® Aluminium for their projects. This supports project teams’ ambition towards the achievement of higher sustainability ratings, which stakeholders and regulatory bodies increasingly demand.
Paul Hastings, CEO of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council, welcomed Capral as a new member, commenting: “The Infrastructure Sustainability Council acknowledges the sustainability leadership shown by the team at Capral Aluminium in joining our dedicated membership community of practice. Raising the profile and awareness of low-carbon alternatives is a critical part of our race towards net zero. By fostering collaboration right across the value chain, we can continue to accelerate impact across the quadruple bottom line.”
Capral is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as a member of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council and looks forward to collaborating with other industry leaders and stakeholders to drive sustainable infrastructure practices and contribute positively to the environment.
