West Australian manufacturer Ciltech has rapidly emerged as a leader in the design and manufacture of jetties, pontoons, and other marine infrastructure. With a steadfast commitment to excellence, the company's dedication to high-quality materials and advanced engineering techniques distinguishes it in a competitive market. Ciltech takes great pride in its Western Australian roots, consistently delivering innovative products that set new benchmarks in the industry.
Managing Director Mason Cilia reflects on the business's growth and ongoing development "Ciltech started as a small, family-run business in Western Australia, and over the years, we've grown into a key player in the marine infrastructure industry. Our journey has been driven by a commitment to quality and innovation."
At the core of Ciltech's success are its proprietary aluminium extrusions, which form the foundation of its cutting-edge jetty systems. Remarkably, 98% of their pontoons are constructed using proprietary aluminium extrusions developed in collaboration with Capral. These extrusions are meticulously designed to accommodate various structural and functional elements, ensuring that each system meets the specific needs of its environment. From supporting decking weight to integrating mooring attachments and cleats, Ciltech's tailored extrusions provide versatile and robust solutions.
The company's innovative approach is exemplified by two standout projects: the Hillarys and Fremantle pontoons. In Hillarys, Ciltech constructed an extensive pontoon system that seamlessly integrates five separate pontoons into a single, expansive structure complete with a utility shed. Similarly, in Fremantle, a pontoon system featuring comparable amenities demonstrates Ciltech's ability to engineer complex, multi-pontoon configurations that meet the rigorous demands of large-scale maritime operations. These projects not only showcase Ciltech's advanced engineering capabilities but also underscore their commitment to delivering robust, tailor-made solutions for diverse marine environments.
A hallmark of Ciltech's engineering prowess is its unique solution that allows for the construction of larger, more complex pontoon structures by bolting multiple pontoons together. This innovation is particularly evident in the amenities pontoon in Fremantle, where six pontoons are joined to form a massive floating structure. The ability to create such large-scale systems highlights Ciltech's dedication to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in marine infrastructure.
Aluminium, with its excellent corrosion resistance, has proven to be an ideal material for marine applications—a fact that Ciltech has capitalised on. "Aluminium is sort of a perfect fit for our industry," Mason notes, emphasising the material's durability and lightweight properties that make it perfectly suited for Ciltech's pontoons and jetty systems.
Ciltech's commitment to sustainability is a cornerstone of its operations, evident in its choice of materials and engineering practices. The use of aluminium in their pontoon and jetty systems not only ensures durability and corrosion resistance but also aligns with their environmental ethos. Aluminium is 100% recyclable, reducing the environmental footprint of their projects. "We focus on using materials that are not only durable but also environmentally responsible. Aluminium is 100% recyclable, which is key to reducing our environmental impact." adds Mason
By prioritising sustainable materials, Ciltech ensures that its infrastructure is both long-lasting and environmentally responsible, adhering to its vision of delivering high-quality, eco-friendly marine solutions.
Since early 2022, Ciltech's partnership with Capral has been instrumental in its continued success. This collaboration was driven by Ciltech's need for a supplier that could provide exceptional service and top-tier products. "Our partnership with Capral has been crucial—they provide us with top-quality aluminium extrusions that meet our specific needs and support our commitment to quality." Mason explains, highlighting the dual pillars of the partnership. Capral has consistently delivered on both fronts, becoming a key supplier of Ciltech's specialised aluminium extrusions.
In line with its sustainability goals, Ciltech has shown a strong interest in Capral's LocAl® Super Green product. This innovative aluminium boasts a significantly lower carbon footprint than standard aluminium, making it an ideal choice for Ciltech's environmentally conscious projects. By incorporating LocAl® Super Green into their pontoon and jetty systems, Ciltech not only enhances the durability and performance of their structures but also actively contributes to reducing the overall environmental impact.
Looking to the future, Ciltech's ambitions extend beyond Western Australia. The company aims to expand its reach nationwide, focusing on becoming a key supplier and distributor of high-quality jetty systems across Australia. Mason expresses optimism about this expansion, stating, "We love what we do, and our passion for creating innovative marine infrastructure drives us to keep pushing the boundaries."
The ongoing partnership with Capral will be crucial in supporting Ciltech's expansion plans, ensuring that they continue to deliver top-tier products backed by exceptional service to customers across the country.
