Introducing the AMA Collection by BOMMA

This collection is inspired by the delicate shells of mussels, all hand-made and mouth-blown by the BOMMA glass makers in Czech Republic.

Designer Václav MlynáÅ™ named the collection after Japanese female pearl divers called Ama - 'woman of the sea' - who traditionally collected pearls in Japan over centuries.

Each pendant is produced by using a special glassmaking technique. Over the course of two days, the glass is heated and gradually melts by its own weight into a prepared conical mould. This meticulously cut glass of substantial size encases a pearl in its centre in the form of a light source providing soft ambient light. The Ama comes in either an open or closed form mimicking real-life pearl mussels, and three beautiful glass colour finishes.
