If your bathroom is looking tired and neglected, restyling can be a quick and easy way to show some TLC and spark it back to life. Styling need not be expensive, as you can often repurpose items from other rooms of your home or find cost effective solutions at your local hardware or department store.
Here are 7 simple ways to spruce up your bathroom:
1. Potted plants
Adding greenery is the quickest way to add new life to any old bathroom…literally! Potted plants can be placed on the vanity, a shelf or hung from the ceiling. Certain types of plants absolutely thrive in bathroom environments and require very little attention.
2. Beautiful Baskets
Using baskets in a bathroom is not only handy for storage but they look great too. Wicker or rattan baskets add lovely natural tones and textures to the room. Baskets can be used to store rolled up towels, rolls of toilet paper or to organise makeup and toiletries.
3. Replace your Rug
Daggy old rugs make your bathroom look, well… daggy! If your bath rug or mat has seen better days, a new one will do wonders for your room. If you have never used a rug in your bathroom, it can be a great way to introduce texture and warmth into a sometimes-sterile space.
4. Inject some Indulgence
A candle to burn while you’re relaxing in the bath always makes a bathroom feel more luxe. Adding handmade soap, or decanting your supermarket pump soap into a ceramic dispenser, will immediately help your vanity look more stylish. Group items on a small tray with a vase of greenery for greater impact.
5.Trade-up your Towels
Replace your old and mis-matched towels for a fluffy new set. They won’t just feel luxurious to the touch but they make great, versatile styling items too! Fold them and pop them on a shelf, roll them into baskets or hang them on hooks – whatever works for you.
6. Hang some Hooks
Speaking of hanging towels, if you don’t already have hooks in all the right places, now’s the time to add them. Hooks are a great way to declutter a bathroom - you can pop a few behind the door to hide your bathrobe and a couple more beside the bath or shower, to hang your clothes when you jump in. When it comes to styling, fluffy white towels hanging from hooks make some of the most simple and effective styling items.
7. A Place to Perch
One of the things that we always see in expensive bathrooms is somewhere to sit… other than the toilet seat! A stool can be used to place your wine glass and book beside the bath, somewhere to prop your foot while you paint your toenails or to help you reach the top of the mirror while you’re cleaning. Bound to make your bathroom functional as well as fancy!
