In honour of the progress of COP28 , we’ve decided to create a series of educational tips for choosing sustainable fabrics, which we’ve decided to call “Avoiding Greenwashing”.
Transparency is key! When assessing fabrics, consider the manufacturing mill's practices, energy sources, water usage, and the supply chain. While opting for mills with solar power is a positive step, transparency through certifications like cradle to cradle and chain of custody is crucial. It is important to consider the entire supply chain – from raw materials, production of yarn, weaving of the fabric and coating to the final product. Anyone can claim the "net zero" label, but only a few can verify it.
