Welcome back to our “Avoiding Greenwashing” Series - Understanding certifications
While many are starting to adopt the Best Environmental Practice PVC label, it is important to acknowledge the continued presence of PVC in the product.
One of the main concerns is PVC particles disrupt the messaging system of the body, harm reproductive health, and contribute to asthma and developmental problems.
PVC can also contain dangerous chemical additives including phthalates, lead, cadmium, and/or organotins, which are used to stabilise the product and can be harmful. These toxic additives are dangerous and can evaporate into the air over time. Whilst Best Environmental Practice PVC is better than standard PVC, there are many other choices in the market that have no PVC.
