Here is how to prevent the noise from HVACR mechanical plant escaping to trouble people frequenting a Brisbane shopping centre - and its neighbours - whilst also ensuring the equipment is adequately ventilated.

It makes sense that if you provide open spaces for air to flow the noise can escape through them. This purlin-mounted platform sits one metre above the roofline at its lowest point, rising to more than 2.1 metres at its highest down-roof end. A large space for noise to pass through from the HVACR equipment above.

The impressive double-decker structure features an Acoustic+ screen measuring 2.5 metres high which surrounds the HVACR platform. This prevents noise from escaping at that level. Noise which travels downward through the mesh floor is prevented from escaping by the lower Acoustic+ screen. Very clever.

What else can we tell you about this…? Acoustic+ is the only tuneable noise attenuation solution in the country. It has a range of five surface densities (7 - 31 kg per square metre) which can be installed at different positions across the roof space to counter variances in equipment noise frequencies and volumes. Meaning that you can have a 7 kg screen alongside a 19 or 25 kg screen followed by a 13 or 31 kg screen. And so on. The absorptive material is made from recycled drink bottles (!) and provides three-way noise reduction: absorbing, reflecting then absorbing again. It is UV and moisture resistant and fire retardant.
