Ducking Around Duct Work

Challenge: design, manufacture and install a lightweight steel platform in a space already occupied by HVACR duct work.

Over the past two decades we have a 100% success rate of developing fit-for-purpose solutions for the thousands of roofs we have been on…so when it came to creating a unique platform for a cramped area on this building in Western Sydney our Design and Engineering teams knew exactly what to do. Throw in the need for a rafter-mounted platform instead of a purlin-mounted version and a 5-degree roof pitch.

We were able to customise our Span+ platform to fit the available space and support its load of HVACR mechanical equipment. This included modifying the stub columns. The fact that the sections of our steel platform were incredibly light meant they could be quickly and easily craned to the roof and carried into place in amongst the ducting by just a couple of installers. Plus, our ingenious bolt-together design (no hot works on the roof) made the assembly process very simple.
