The building requirements included nine differently sized platforms, mounted on three and four degree roof pitches, with different load bearing requirements, some with acoustic walls of varying heights and others with guardrails. Not only did this require a bespoke customised solution, but being a new town centre with retail owners eagerly awaiting the opportunity to start trading, we had to complete our installation as quickly as possible.
The key to us rapidly getting in and out was the fact that Con-form Group HVACR mechanical equipment platforms are prefabricated and modular. We were able to pre-assemble trusses in our Manufacturing Centre of Excellence and quickly crane them to the roof. The super-lightweight structures, which were easily carried into position, were simply assembled without the need for cutting or welding. Neither was there any need to penetrate the roof because the exclusive EasyMech MR platform is a surface-mounted system.
EasyMech MR is purlin mounted and designed to distribute loads out across the roof span. Most platforms were engineered with a live load rating of 2.5kPa and one was designed to carry up to 5 kPa.
Due to the noise generated by the HVACR equipment it was necessary to place our Acoustic+ Screen on all four sides of one platform and two of another. The panels, finished in a pleasant Surf Mist colour to blend in with the roof, had to be manufactured at both two and three metres in height to capture the outbound noise.
Acoustic+ features polyester fibre absorption material (made from recycled drink bottles!) to produce its three-way noise reduction technique: Absorb-Reflect-Absorb. Its Noise Reduction Co-efficient is a powerful 0.75.
Despite the large number of platforms (14), screens and guardrail required, the project was completed very promptly for the residents of Werribee in Victoria.
