There are more than 2400 fast food outlets in Australia owned by the big name franchises…the ones that have been around for decades. Not counting the newer arrivals such as
Guzman Y Gomez which is expanding aggressively. Every one of them requires an HVACR system and that is why most weeks of the year Con-form Group is designing, making and installing a platform and screen system on the roof of a fast food outlet.
Here’s one example we recently completed for one of the major companies in Melbourne. It features a 10.5 x 6.7 metre ClassicScreenWall sitting on a purlin-mounted EasyMech MR steel platform. The 15mm spacing between the Monument-coloured vertical slats allows for air to ventilate the machinery behind it, whilst providing an attractive visual barrier. Our screens can be attached vertically and horizontally, with or without gaps for air flow. They are very light and are installed very quickly.
The beauty of the MR platform is that it is penetration-free. It sits on top of the roof and arrives onsite as a prefabricated flat pack. This also contributes to a speedy installation. Despite its lightweight structure (a mere 14kg per square metre) it has a live load rating of 5.0kPa or more because it is able to distribute the load weight evenly. EasyMech MR (Metal Roof – there is a specialised Concrete Roof version also available) is suitable for all roof types and whilst this roof pitch was a common three degrees, we recently installed an MR platform on a roof with a 20-degree pitch.
