New Shifting Gears report shows that cycling and active transport is the key to meeting climate targets.
More than 80% of Australians use private vehicles for day-to-day travel.
While 14% use public transport.
And a sole 5% rely on active transport to get from place A to B.
Key findings in the latest report released showcase that in order to meet Federal Government emissions reduction targets of 43% by 2030 tripling the use of active transport would be needed to help.
Meaning simply, that daily trips on electric public transport, bike or on foot would need to triple.
Read on to see how prioritising people over motor vehicles on Australian streets can move more than double the number of people.
