Australian cities are ideal for cycling, however, cycling seems to be the most under-utilized mode of transport in Australian cities.
With only 1% of daily trips being active transport on average.
A good way to encourage more Australians to cycle is to look at what cyclists might want?
Safe cycling infrastructure is key.
Along with bicycle fleet electrification (encouraging the use of e-bikes, especially in rather hilly areas like Brisbane and Sydney), pro-cycling laws and earmarked funding for cycling infrastructure advancements, mixed land uses and modal integration, road safety education, and promoting cycling as the new normal can all be added steps to help.
