In the heart of Sydney's northwestern suburbs, the newly minted Carmel Village shopping centre stands as a testament to innovative architectural design.
One of the standout features of this retail precinct is the open-air spaces and relaxed atmosphere of the centre. With this in mind the project required materials that could weather the elements as well as provide a modern aesthetic to this new shopping experience. The designers selected an extensive use of Covet's timber-look Japanese-made aluminum, a choice that has transformed the shopping experience for visitors and added a touch of natural beauty to the urban landscape.
Architects from Group GSA, known for their forward-thinking Urban designs, have incorporated Covet's aluminum planks and battens to stunning effect.
The 12x100 two-piece planks grace the soffits and part of the commercial entry facade, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere as shoppers traverse the walkways.
The choice of 'Kurashikku,' a rich and earthy color, was a masterstroke by the architects. It evokes the essence of Japanese craftsmanship and seamlessly blends with the shopping center's aesthetic.
30x50 two-piece battens, skillfully placed in decorative ceiling zones and soffits throughout Carmel Village, add a unique depth and character to the space. This choice not only enhances the visual appeal but also underlines the commitment to quality and longevity.
Covet's timber-look Japanese aluminum is not just an aesthetic addition to a building; it offers practical benefits as well. Its durability and low maintenance requirements make it an excellent choice for a bustling shopping center. The material's resistance to environmental factors ensures that Carmel Village will continue to impress visitors for years to come.
Carmel Village in Box Hill, with its innovative architectural approach, is set to become a focal point for the community. The use of Covet's timber-look Japanese aluminum is a testament to the synergy between aesthetics and functionality, proving that even in a modern shopping center, the beauty of natural materials can shine through.
