A visionary creation by Cox Architecture and skilfully brought to life by Buildcorp, is one of the latest additions to Sydney Olympic Park.
Completed in May 2022, this facility stands as a modern facility with architectural features paying tribute to the sport. The state-of-the-art home of Cricket NSW opens with a quintessential nod to cricket, a feature ceiling reminiscent of the spine of a cricket bat, including clever detailing of the swell and toe.
On approaching the structure, the entrance begins with the toe. The orientation provides a subtle directional pull into the centre. The Covet Ever Art Wood lined ceiling leads people down the bat spine through the centre of the building.
Understanding the vison of the design team, and NCC requirements, Covet recommended the 2mm solid fire rated aluminium, wrapped in the Art Wood colour Oku. The Oku colour closely referencing traditional Willow often used for cricket bats.
Covet worked very closely with the designer and install team Ankon Plastering to ensure a seamless outcome.
With timber look aluminium it is always critical that the aluminium substrate is never seen. In this instance we worked with the team to ensure that the sheet edges were encapsulated with the timber look veneer.
All screw fixings were colour matched to the Oku colour. The sheets were skillfully installed to deliver on this detail.
