In the heart of Sydney, a stunning architectural achievement emerged in 2022 – the new Sydney Football Stadium.
This extraordinary project, with an investment of $828 million, has redefined the city's sporting landscape. Designed by the esteemed Cox Architects and delivered by John Holland, it's often described as one of the Southern Hemisphere's most remarkable community stadiums.
The modern exterior is unmistakable with careful consideration for the intricate façade ribbons and the overall embracing of patrons and entertainers alike. Covet was fortunate to supply elements of the interior of the complex. The Cox interiors team selected the 44x18 semi-round Mikadsuki battens, meticulously fixed over 1mm matching aluminum sheet backing in the colour - Kuri Masame, with a popular textured finish.
These custom-made Mikadsuki battens, crafted in Japan, are more than just a design choice. They serve a dual purpose. Firstly, they infuse the stadium's interior with an astonishing level of realism, mimicking the warmth and depth of natural wood. Secondly, and perhaps even more importantly, they prioritize safety, boasting a Group 1 fire rating.
To date this is the third sporting venue that Covet has supplied in Sydney, including the NSW Cricket Centre of Excellence and the NSW Rugby League Centre of Excellence, both in the Sydney Olympic precinct.
