From screens and ceilings to walls and garage doors, DecoBatten® is suitable for a wide range of projects and applications. Although installing our DecoBatten® system is relatively straight forward, there are a number of install options and techniques, to assist in achieving the best result. We recommend that you ideally have your installation planned prior to ordering your product to avoid disappointment or delays.
Here are our key tips on where to start with your DecoBatten® installation.
1. Read the installation guide
Sounds logical, right? But because the system is relatively easy to install, some people skip this step. In fact, we recommend reviewing the installation guide BEFORE you select your profiles, as understanding the system and installation methods may assist in choosing which profile size, system or accessories will be best suited to your project.

2. One-piece VS Two-piece battens - Know the difference
DecoBatten® is available in both a one-piece (RHS or SHS) and a two-piece QuickClick system. With a one-piece batten, you're limited to external fixings, which may result in exposed screws or pop-rivets and potentially fabrication prior to installation. On the other hand, our two-piece QuickClick batten system offers versatility and a no-fuss solution for securing battens and creating a seamless finish with no visible fixings. The two-piece batten also offers flexibility and freedom with its simple interchangeable design of five batten cover shape options – including an angled and circular batten cover – and a common concealed base, allowing for multiple design sequences and looks.
3. Save time with the SpaceBase™
If you are looking for a quick and easy installation, the two-piece QuickClick™ system offers speed and flexibility. The standard base makes fixing to wall surfaces a breeze, but if you want to cover an exposed wall or surface completely, the SpaceBase™ turns our DecoBatten system into a fully enclosed cladding system, meaning you can cover large surfaces without preparing them, saving time and money.
4. Plan for accessories
It is important to remember that DecoBatten® is suitable for a wide range of projects, however it may require some additional accessories depending on your project and installation. End caps, channels and angles can be ordered to colour match your battens; however, DecoBatten® can also be used with a range of common off-the-shelf accessories like post anchors, base plates and flanged fence posts. Talk to our team about what accessories you might need for your installation before ordering.
5. Consider the Finish
When your DecoBatten® is finished in our premium DecoWood powder coat finish, it offers the appearance of natural timber. Just like natural timber, DecoWood offers the natural grain and shade variances. Depending on the desired aesthetic, it may be important to consider the timber grain when installing your battens to ensure an even and mixed distribution of colour, shade and timber grain is achieved.
*HOT TIP* When installing battens across large areas that require sectional cuts, try and use the same length of batten to ensure the timber grain is seamless across the joins.
6. Don't forget end caps for exposed ends
Don't forget to account for the batten’s exposed ends. Colour-matched end caps, channels or angles are available to finish off the project where exposed ends will be visible or for when you don’t want water getting trapped inside the batten. Although they may seem small, they make a world of difference when it comes to finishing off your project.
