An excellent reputation? Check.

But yet, one major complaint.

It was 1997, and the Excel Dryer team recognized that their company was in good shape, but their electric hand dryer product just did not meet customer demands.

Simply put: it didn’t work quickly enough.

That set the stage for progressive decisions that would be made and innovative products that would be developed in the coming years.

The Hand Dryer Revolution: XLERATOR 

Conventional hand drying machines took upwards of 45 seconds to dry a user’s hands.

That just wasn’t good enough.

After more than three years of research, development, and faithful perseverance, the Excel Dryer team developed a machine that dried hands in 10-15 seconds.

It began getting the job done three times faster than conventional dryers and used 80% less energy! Not to mention, it provided a 95% cost savings over paper towels and eliminated their labor, maintenance, and waste while creating a more hygienic restroom environment.

In 2009, a peer-reviewed (per ISO 14040 standards) Life Cycle Assessment of XLERATOR paper confirmed that XLERATOR® hand dryers reduce the carbon footprint of hand drying by 50-70% compared to both traditional hand dryers and fully recycled paper towels. XLERATOR hand dryers represent significant cost savings, are an excellent source reduction alternative, and help qualify for multiple LEED credits.

We continued to develop. We continued to improve.

Today’s version of the original, patented, high-speed, energy-efficient XLERATOR® Hand Dryer, now dries hands in 8 seconds!

The XLERATOR had created the high-speed, energy-efficient category of hand dryers and soon dotted the globe with its unprecedented drying power.

With that, Excel Dryer settled in as the international leader in its industry.

The Evolution: Expanded and Enhanced Hand Dryer

With XLERATOR’s breakthrough success as a sustainable, cost-effective, and hygienic electric hand dryer, we asked ourselves:

How can we expand on this? How can we enhance the product itself?

We then introduced our enhanced product line of high-efficiency hand dryers.

In 2014, we announced the new XLERATOReco® Hand Dryer.

Its no-heat technology dries hands in 10 seconds using only 500 watts, creating the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly hand-drying solution on Earth.

In 2015, we debuted our ThinAir® Hand Dryer, the sleekest member of our product line – a surface-mounted, ADA-compliant hand dryer.

We also refined the original XLERATOR model with enhanced standard features, including adjustable sound, speed, and heat controls, an externally visible service LED for streamlining maintenance, and multi-voltage options of 110-120V or 208-277V.

Offering a touch-free, hands-under design and the most options and complete line of accessories in the industry, our products notably represent the most hygienic hand dryers available.

When specified with our antimicrobial Wall Guard and our HEPA filtration system, which removes 99.97 percent of potentially present bacteria at 0.3 microns from the air stream, there is no hand-drying solution more sanitary.

Beyond Dryer Hands

Every facility should have the freedom to create an ideal drying solution for its restroom environment in terms of operation and aesthetics. For the latter element, XLERATOR’s signature offering of custom covers, available in many RAL colors and with an option for personalized digital imagery, has become an industry game-changer.

The next natural step after that was to take the benefits of XLERATOR off the wall – and onto the sink deck.

In 2017, we unveiled the sink-mounted XLERATORsync® Hand Dryer, designed for integration with the D|13 Sink System and available exclusively through D|13 Group in the United States.

A cohesive solution that addresses numerous challenges in effective restroom design, the D|13 Sink System synchronizes the hand washing and drying process, bringing together soap, faucet, and high-efficiency dryer on each sink basin. As part of this exclusive one-stop system, the XLERATORsync provides intuitive operation, a polite user experience, and an aesthetic that complements other high-end fixtures.
