INDUSTRY NEWS // Queensland Gov Launches $20M Green Urban Infrastructure Initiative

The Green Urban Infrastructure Initiative is in response to the continuous growth within Southeast Queensland resulting in an increased impact on climate change. The area is predicted to grow rapidly from a current population of four million to six million by the year 2046.

Council-driven plans of action that the initiative will support include, the promotion of healthy living through urban design, improvement of urban biodiversity and the increase in access to active transport with green features. Simultaneously, the initiative will target a specific area of concern, the urban heat island effect; an environmental crisis that involves the rise of temperatures in highly populated areas.
