BUSHFIRES and building protection (FZ) Flame Zone
Australia is a country regularly ravaged by dangerous Bushfires of varying proportions.
The loss of life and property has been substantial since the first European settlers arrived in 1788 and still regrettably continues today.
Aboriginal tribes were well used those occurrences and had a definitive policy of clearing bush around all areas of protective concerns.
Today we call that an (APZ )an Asset Protection Zone, which carries particular specifications and requirements for those building in bush fire prone areas.
The Rural (RFS) and Country Fire Services (CFS) are the best source of local information in your area.
Australia has 8 climatic zones requiring definitive direction and compliance in building codes.
The requirements in Bush Fire Building are covered by a set of (BAL) regulations (Bushfire Attack level) these range in figures which relate to Kw / m2 ( per square metre of irradiance)
This heat flux is identified as 12.5, 19, 29, 40 and (FZ) Flame Zone, 50Kw / m2
12.5 is the low end with lower risk and FZ is the top end high risk.
FireCrunch meets the maximum (FZ) Flame Zone
Australian Standards tested Bush Fires AS/NZS 1530.8.2 (CSIRO)
J Leonard (CSIRO/ Highett Victoria)
FireCrunch has been tested by the CSIRO in probably the only full scale bush fire simulation test ever carried out in Australia ( 2012) with light weight building board (FireCrunch) MgO.
The extensive CSIRO Scientific Bushfire test report can be viewed.. Click here
Composition
MgO stands for Magnesium Oxide, which is a steel waste product (45%) blended with other (IP) substances and multi layers of fibre mesh composite. FireCrunch contains no Formaldehyde, toxic chemicals or asbestos.
Stronger than plasterboard
FireCrunch is building lining and cladding product 10 times stronger than plasterboard, virtually ENVIRO carbon neutral in mfg ( 5% CO2) while being fire, flood and termite proof. FireCrunch is a universal multipurpose building product with a design format suited directly to Australian climatic conditions.
Medical and Health Values
In health terms Bacteria cannot grow or survive on MgO so its better suited for hospitals medical centres, schools and other areas of high density accommodation, public buildings toilet areas etc,etc
Mould and mildew do not easily form on FireCrunch so its ideal for wet areas and humid conditions, which quickly ruin paper based Gyproc and similar gypsum plaster wall products.
