Merlin are partnering with Habitat for Humanity Australia in 2020 to help provide safe and secure housing for families in need both locally and abroad. Habitat for Humanity Australia is an international provider of housing that believes everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live.
The partnership will see Merlin provide both funds and support to the not-for-profit organisation, with support taking place via volunteered hours from staff and partners to complete vital housing and community projects.
âHaving access to and feeling secure in your own home is a vision shared by both Merlin and Habitat for Humanity,â says Grant Emanuel, Marketing Director, International at Chamberlain Group (Merlin is a brand of Chamberlain Group).
âThrough the partnership we hope to make a tangible difference to vulnerable families in Australia and to communities abroad,â continues Mr Emanuel.
To kick start the partnership, Merlin is matching international donations from employees worldwide, as well as donating $10,000 directly towards Habitatâs bushfire response efforts in the Cudlee Creek region of Adelaide Hills, where over 80 homes have been destroyed.
Donations can be made via https://habitat.org.au/bushfiresappeal/.
Throughout 2020, Merlin will also participate in multiple âBrush with Kindnessâ volunteering activities with Habitat for Humanity, a program designed to respond to the shelter needs of vulnerable members of our community and help build, repair and restore homes and temporary accommodations. Activities will be conducted in NSW, VIC, SA, QLD and NZ.
Brush with Kindness events utilise teams of volunteers to undertake minor but essential landscaping and home repairs as well as assisting in the build of new homes alongside Habitatâs partner families and partner organisations.
âThe Merlin team are a close-knit group and we like to take a hands-on approach to supporting those in need. Weâre looking forward to working closely with Habitat for Humanity to meet and support those in need,â says Mr Emanuel.
Zoe Nelson-Carey, Head of Partnerships at Habitat for Humanity, says Merlinâs team approach to supporting their work has multiple benefits for the not-for-profit.
âFinancial support is essential to achieving change for those in need, but so too is the time people generously provide and the power of personal experiences to help spread the word about the support we provide to the community,â says Ms Nelson-Carey.
âWeâre thrilled to have Merlinâs support during 2020. With the generous support of corporate partners, weâre able to make a deep impact on the lives of thousands of communities in Australia and around the world,â concludes Ms Nelson-Carey.
