The Chichester Park Upgrade was a transformative redevelopment project led by the principal contractor, Geared Construction. Moddex played a pivotal role as a trusted supplier and installer of modular handrails and balustrades.
Located in Woodvale, Perth, Western Australia, this $5.6 million project aimed to revitalise the Chichester Park club facility, which serves as a year-round shared hub for multiple local cricket and soccer clubs – enhancing the park facilities and creating a more inclusive environment for the local sporting community.
The Chichester Park Upgrade project introduced a range of state-of-the-art enhancements, including a new meeting room with four change rooms, a referees’ change room, a first-aid room, upgraded toilets, a modern kitchen, and ample storage areas. The project also incorporated additional parking bays, a new barbecue and picnic area, and underground drainage for the southern playing field, optimising the facility’s functionality and providing an enhanced experience for visiting teams.
Moddex’s involvement centred around the supply and installation of a range of railing systems, including Assistrail® Disability Handrails (AR150, AR10) and Conectabal® Commercial Balustrades (CB10, CB40), across various areas such as ramps, stairs, balconies, and platforms of the venue.
Completed in 2023, Moddex’s expertise in modular railing solutions offered a strategic advantage, enabling efficient installation and future adaptability. Assistrail® Disability Handrails and Conectabal® Commercial Balustrades were selected to meet safety requirements for DDA and NCC compliance, accessibility standards, and architectural specifications while harmonising with the overall design vision.
Moddex takes great pride in working on local community infrastructure projects directly benefiting local communities, residents, visitors and families. The Chichester Park Upgrade was a testament to Moddex’s commitment to improving community assets for future generations, supporting the foundations with safe accessibility.
Chichester Park is a special project of local significance for the local sporting clubs that are overdue for facility upgrades. For many of these clubs, the redevelopment of their home club is a huge boost in morale, pride and motivation to grow and continue supporting their players to reach greater heights.
Witnessing local club members’ excitement throughout the project journey was a gratifying experience for the Moddex team – creating high-quality facilities that people are excited and passionate about using.
Moddex’s selection for the Chichester Park Upgrade was based on a combination of factors that set them apart as the partner of choice for the project.
The modular nature of Moddex’s handrails and balustrades proved a significant advantage. The ability to easily customise and adapt the railing systems to fit the unique requirements of different areas within the facility ensured a seamless installation process. This flexibility also allows for future modifications or expansions, providing a long-term solution that could evolve with the facility.
Furthermore, Moddex’s prior experience with the client as a long-term existing contractor played a crucial role in securing the project. Successful collaborations on previous projects reinforced the client’s confidence in Moddex’s expertise and reliability. Moddex’s reputation for delivering high-quality products, speed of delivery and guarantees in craftsmanship, coupled with their competitive tender submission, positioned them well to take on this project.
The success of this project is a testament to the synergy between Geared Construction’s project leadership and Moddex’s dedication to going above and beyond to deliver certainty for every project we are a part of.
