So, when it comes to taking care of the environment and reducing our carbon impact, we’re chucking on the gumboots and picking up the spades ourselves.
For every invoice we generate, a tree will be planted by the Moddex team. We are focused on planting trees and shrubs that are native to the region, which in turn, provide many benefits to us and the environment daily.
Trees beautify our environment, but their values lie beyond the aesthetics. They help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to many different birds and animals.
Here are six main reasons behind our plant-a-tree initiative:
Trees help to purify the air we breathe. Through their leaves and bark, they remove carbon dioxide from the air and release clean oxygen for us to breathe. In urban environments, trees sweep up particles like dust and smoke and absorb pollutant gases like nitrogen oxides, ozone, and carbon monoxide.
Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater. Their complex root systems act like filters, removing pollutants and slowing down runoff, preventing soil erosion.
A single tree can provide home for hundreds of species of insect, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants.
Trees help reduce stress and anxiety, and allow us to reconnect with nature. In addition, shade provided by tree coverage helps protect our skin from the ever-increasing harshness of the sun.
Trees help cool the planet by sucking in and storing harmful greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere. A mature tree can absorb an average of 22kg of carbon dioxide per year, making cities a healthier, safer place to live.
There are many job opportunities associated with forestry. We don’t just rely on trees for work, though. Sustainable tree farming provides timber to build homes, and wood to burn for cooking and heating.
