The Nihon University Newcastle Campus is an adaptive reuse of the heritage-listed Newcastle Courthouse. The former courthouse was restored to house administration, conference, and management facilities.
Two new buildings were built on both sides of the courthouse, with the east wing dedicated to student accommodation, and the west wing dedicated to educational spaces. The stunning louvres echo the traditional Japanese shoji screens and provide an eye-catching feature.
A feature on both new buildings is our Mitsubishi ALPOLIC™ NC/A1, a fire-safe, fully compliant, aluminium composite cladding composed of a non-combustible mineral core containing zero polyethylene. With the largest selection of colours and finishes on the market, it could easily match the building’s aesthetic, and, due to the superb Lumiflon FEVE paint technology, the cladding is exceptionally resistant to weathering, UV radiation, corrosion and colour fading.
