Transforming Aussie Backyards with Med Evo Pro Retractable Pergola

One of our projects was to transform the patio outdoor area into a usable space that can be enjoyed all year around. Beautiful, newly renovated two-storey private residence in an unconventional shape. The house features large deck at the back of the house with a wide span bi-fold doors and a mini bar table under the kitchen window. The timber deck is already in full use mode with dining setting and a covered barbecue unit. The challenge that the owners were facing is the ability to use the area all year around and not only when weather permits it.
Tossing between multiple solutions including Folding Arm Awnings, Tilting Louvre Roof and Retractable Pergola, we helped the owners to find the best solution for their backyard space.

Med Evo Pro Retractable Pergola

In this particular project, we suggested to go with Med Evo Pro, Retractable Self-Supporting Fabric Roof system. The system featured minimalistic integrated frame, support posts and drainage system constructed using structural aluminium. Med Evo Pro retractable Pergola is very stable even at high wind speeds of up to 75km per hour with front, rear or side incline from 12° to 25°. The system is coupled, which means in can be joined together to create a wider area coverage with in-build guttering system for the rain water to escape. Overall, Med Evo Pro has an elegant and slim design with integrated LED lights and fabric running underneath the side tracks.

What was the custom solution?

The custom solution included design concept approval, on site measure, fabrication and installation. The Med Evo Pro retractable pergola system was equiped with marine grade steel beams and frame The structure was powder-coated in black and covered with custom cream-white fabric that is water, wind and UV proof. The system included integrated LED lights along the length of the pergola, so no additional lightening installations were required for the space. The owners were issued with a remote control that allows them to open and close the roof with a push of a button and basic training on how to operate their newly installed Retractable Pergola.

How Retractable Pergola compliments the space?

The frame of the retractable pergola is sectioned into two parts to create continuous flow through the outdoor space. Wider frame and roof above the bi-fold doors, narrow frame and roof above the window and the bar table. Sectioning allows the roofs to be opened and closed independently of each other creating protection from any weather where and when it is required the most.

The final result looks incredible: fully transformed patio area that now can be enjoyed any time of the day and in any Sydney weather imaginable.
