Roisin and Zac Tarrant are renovators and young parents who recently embarked on a new holiday home project in Toowoomba, Queensland. As with every home renovation or build project, there are hundreds (if not thousands!) of difficult decisions to make both before work begins and throughout the project. From deciding between floorboards and carpet to furniture layouts and lighting, the Tarrant’s renovation project was no different, and perhaps even more rigorous given the couple’s plan to offer it as a rental to guests travelling to the region.

With the average summer temperature nearing 30 degrees Celsius in Toowoomba (QLD), the Tarrants have always prioritised air conditioning solutions that deliver reliability and comfort. Appreciating the benefits of the Panasonic split-system solutions already installed within the home, the Tarrants were ready to upgrade to the latest generation of innovative Premium Z Series Reverse Cycle R32 Wall Split System – opting to kit-out the home with five units.
Realising the benefits of air conditioning units that seamlessly integrate into smart home environments and deliver greater comfort and flexibility, the Tarrants have also become advocates for Panasonic’s Comfort Cloud feature. The revolutionary feature allows the couple to remotely control their entire Air Conditioning system to be prepare for guests arriving in advance without needing to be present in the home. The Tarrants can quickly and easily adjust temperature in every room, monitor energy consumption and change modes from a mobile device via the Panasonic Comfort Cloud App, delivering a highly tailored level of control.

“The Comfort Cloud app is so convenient for us to be able to manage the air conditioning remotely. It is a fantastic feature for our rental property. We can ensure the house is temperature controlled for a guest’s arrival without having to run it all day in the lead up to check-in,” said Zac Tarrant.
The Tarrants were not only impressed by the flexibility delivered to guests in different rooms, but also the cost savings – an especially important consideration as more Australians are conscious of their impact on the environment, and the economic impact on their hip pockets.
“We can also ensure that the air conditioning is not wasting unnecessary power by switching them off if a unit accidentally is left on by a guest. Wherever possible we want to reduce our environmental impact and the energy required to run the house, while also keeping costs down.”
Panasonic’s Z Series units deliver significant improvements to energy efficiency, reducing a customer’s environmental footprint with the AI-powered ECO mode which auto-adjusts to the optimal ECO level based on heat load conditions and air conditioning cooling capacity. Furthermore, the Inverter Control feature varies the rotation speed of the compressor for higher energy savings.

As a young family with pets, another key consideration in designing the Tarrants’ dream home was ensuring they could deliver good air quality and purification. Furthermore, holiday renters also deserve to have the confidence that they would be walking into a home with clean, pollution inhibited air. Panasonic’s Z Series models integrates the brand’s revolutionary nanoe™X air purification technology, which actively inhibits common indoor pollutants from viruses to allergens including mould, creating a fresher, healthier and more comfortable living environment even while no one is in the home.
The air purification capability of nanoe™X actively cleans the air and surfaces within a room. It uses OH radicals encapsulated in water to inhibit micro-organisms – including up to 99 per cent of bacteria and viruses, as well as inhibiting mould, allergens and pollen and reducing odours. It can be operated even when cooling or heating is not switched on.
“With a young baby and two dogs it gives us peace of mind that the quality of air in the home is nice and clean. We are also opening this home up for guests to holiday, so it is a great feature to have available when many people are in and out of the property. I love that you can run the nanoe™X air purification feature without running the action heating or cooling element of the unit,” said Roisin Tarrant.
The technological innovation does not stop there, with the premium Z Series seamlessly integrating in-built Wi-Fi and voice control[1] to deliver even greater convenience for the couple and their guests which works with their home automation system such as google.

In keeping with Panasonic’s premium design philosophy and positioning customer needs at the forefront, the Tarrants were also impressed with the seamlessness of installation – all five units were fully-installed in just one day.
“The installation was great! We had some specific walls we wanted to have the units mounted to based on the configuration of furniture and bedding, and it was no problem at all. The units are really sleek and complement the interior style of our home nicely. They are super quiet and work quickly to cool the spaces,” said Roisin Tarrant.
“We also wanted to make sure that none of the external units were mounted on the front of the house – purely for aesthetics reasons – and the team made sure they were all nicely tucked around the side.”
Commenting on the process, Reggie Lam, Product Marketing Manager, Air Conditioning at Panasonic Australia said the key advantage of installing a split system instead of a ducted system meant a far less invasive process to the structure of the home.
A split system is more easily installed because no roof ducting needs to be installed in the roof. Even better, a multi-split system means less outdoor units are needed, as multiple indoor units can be run off the single outdoor multi-split unit,” said Reggie Lam.
