Mete Erdogan and Georgia King’s unexpected find in Melbourne’s north quickly turned into an exciting renovation project dubbed ‘Shag Manor.’ They were charmed by the retro features in the 1970s home and quickly decided to embark on their first renovation journey
“As soon as we stepped in, we thought this place is just incredible. We had a vision of keeping the character of the home but bringing it into this day and age,” Georgia said.
“We knew we had our work cut out for us but we set a mission to not renovate, but restore this Coburg gem,” said Mete.
As their renovation and restoration journey began, they were soon victim to Melbourne’s challenging climate, particularly the chilly mornings.
“I would often come out of the shower and be in a race against time to get dry and dressed as quickly as humanly possible,” said Georgia.
After thorough research, they settled on a suite of Panasonic products to help solve their heating and cooling needs. These solutions provided year-round comfort – keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer.
Among the upgrades, the Panasonic Bathroom Thermo Ventilator and Exhaust Fan - installed in both the master bathroom and laundry - stood out as a must-have addition and ticked all the boxes. The fan warms the space, dries towels and gym gear, prevents mirror fog, eliminates odours and can even provide a cooling breeze on hot days.
The heating function has transformed Georgia and Mete’s mornings and solved the challenge of Melbourne’s temperamental weather.
“Melbourne mornings are very cold, so it's a real blessing that we can switch it on and have a toasty bathroom in just a few minutes,” said Mete.
The cool breeze feature is another highlight and will provide comfort and ventilation during the humid months.
“When I come home covered in sweat after a workout and want a quick shower, it’s great to step into a refreshing, cool bathroom instead of a hot one,” said Mete.
The duo also takes advantage of dry mode. Operating the heating and ventilation simultaneously, the fan dehumidifies moist air following a hot bath or shower, preventing the growth of mould, expelling odours and demisting mirrors. Wet clothes and towels now also dry quickly, a beneficial feature for Melbourne homes when dealing with damp laundry.
“Our towels are now dry between uses, and we’ve also started to dry our gym gear in the bathroom because of the antibacterial feature, so that it’s not smelly the next day.”
Mounted and ducted in the ceiling, the Panasonic Bathroom Thermo Ventilator and Exhaust Fan has been designed to enhance any bathroom setting with a modern, streamlined style, making it a welcome addition to Mete and Georgia’s newly restored bathroom.
“We also really like that it doesn't look like a normal exhaust fan. It's almost architectural and doesn’t compromise the look and feel of the room,” said Georgia.
Bringing a product to market equipped to suit the unique needs of the Australian climate was top-of- mind for Panasonic, according to Ken Onoe, product marketing manager, Air Conditioning at Panasonic Australia.
“Given Melbourne’s ever-changing weather, we were thrilled to work with Mete and Georgia to find a bathroom ventilation system that is equipped to deal with hot summers and cold winters,” Onoe said.
“This was a special project for us to work on as we were tasked with finding a solution that wouldn’t compromise the heritage of the home. Our Bathroom Thermo Ventilator and Exhaust Fan is designed to seamlessly fit into any space making it the perfect solution for new builds and renovations,” Onoe said.
