âAxis wanted a high-energy workplace that inclusively and seamlessly connects staff inside and outside the local office with collaboration spaces and best-in-class communications technology. Featuring timeless design that would last the duration of the lease, Axis wanted to hold the interest and attention of staff with varied workstations that are tech-enabled, as well as space for collaboration. The building itself boasts a view, with the splayed glass curtain façade revealing Collinsâ Streets top end, and the organisation wanted this shared between clients and employees.
The brief was to use design to finely balance seemingly opposing constructs of cutting-edge technology with a welcoming, friendly feel. In addition to this, Axis wanted longevity and low maintenance in both design and materials. For this, it was requested that sustainable products and materials be used to make the space efficient and last the duration of the lease. With a long-term lease in a 6-star green building and a 5-star NABERS, Axis wanted to ensure a low carbon footprint as well as minimal running costs.â DRIVENxDESIGN
As the office is Melbourne-based Axis Communications and Axiom Workplaces wanted to source local suppliers for the fit-out to utilize local suppliers and limit carbon footprint. In doing so, they engaged with Planex to supply and install 2 and 3 tier locker banks using a combination of colours and a custom-designed circle perforation. Each locker was fitted with a mail slot and 1 internal shelf. The satin white Linea cabinets were fitted with a planter box and also utilized the custom perforation to match the lockers.
