Under the Hanes Brand sits a number of iconic Australian apparel and homeware labels such as Bonds, Berlei, Jockey and Sherridan all well-known and loved. Recently Geyer Design was engaged to undertake a new fit-out for Hanes HQ at 100 Harris Street Pyrmont, Sydney.
100 Harris St, originally a wool store with an ornate brick façade characterized by ceilings and exposed beams with abundant natural light was the perfect site for Hanes. The tenancy needed to accommodate all Hanes staff across 2 levels. The old wool store has many beautiful structural features to highlight making it a great workplace setting.
Situated throughout the floorplate are Planexâs SM Tambour door cabinets finished with Flox planters positioned at the end of workstations. Following WELL building principles, interior designer Emily Choo from Geyer selected these units to add a biophilic element to the workplace. By positioning these units along the corridor, you not only see a beautiful artwork that brings colour and movement to the space but also locates this space within a long lineage of First Nations cultural heritage and stories.
Yuwaalaraay woman Lucy Simpson is Creative Director and Principal Designer / Maker behind First Nations design studio Gaawaa Miyay. Lucy and Planex hope to create moments of functional design embedded into interior landscapes which both map and mark place, while also honouring the country and reminding us of our obligations to care for that which sustains and provides.
