There are many precast concrete pool providers in the market, and they all make the same promises — fast and easy installation, affordable prices, and a high-quality concrete pool solution. But, not all precast concrete pools are built equal. Comparing a Plungie to other precast concrete pools is like comparing apples and, well, less impressive apples.
Let’s break down the differences between a Plungie and your stock-standard precast concrete pool so you can choose the best option for your project. After all, when it comes to an investment of this size, there should be no questions about strength, durability, and quality. And, with our patented design, you won’t get the same level of innovation from any other manufacturer.
Here’s why Plungies are the precast concrete pools you can trust.
Chances are, you’ve come across precast pools on the market that are repurposed from concrete rainwater tanks. This may seem like a cool idea at first, but there are several reasons why concrete tank pools are impractical.
For one, rainwater tanks are designed for water levels to gradually move up and down without much disruption. The pool structure is not designed to withstand the stresses of being filled with water and subjected to the weight and movement of swimmers. It’s hard to enjoy a swim with friends and family when, in the back of your mind, you’re wondering if your tank pool can handle it.
In contrast, every aspect of a Plungie has been specifically designed for use as a swimming pool. Everything from the strength of the lifting points to the thickness of the walls has been carefully considered and backed by expert engineering to provide the highest level of durability and structural integrity. Our monolithic pour method is a testament to this.
In most precast concrete pools, the steps are an afterthought. The structure of the pool is created first, and then solid concrete steps are added later on. Plungies are unique because they are monolithic structures, made from one single pour of concrete with a void beneath the stairs. This is important for two main reasons:
Firstly, the solid concrete steps make other precast pools at least 1 tonne heavier than a Plungie. Not only does this make our precast pools easier to lift with a crane but it also means we use less concrete in our pools, which is kinder to the environment.
Secondly, a monolithic pour creates a seamless pool shell, with no cold joints between the steps and the interior shell. Cold joints between the concrete elements increase the risk of leaks and can cause the structure to weaken over time.
Our monolithic pour means we can create the most effective, watertight structure at the lightest possible weight. We’ve patented this method, so you won’t be able to find it anywhere else.
The quality of other concrete pools doesn’t compare to ours. How exactly do we know this? Because we partner with Holcim — the leader in concrete manufacturing — to ensure we have the best possible concrete mix for the structure of our pools.
Not only does our partnership guarantee the best quality concrete on the market, but it allows us to contribute to their carbon-offsetting initiatives. This sets us apart from other precast concrete pool manufacturers who rely on more resource-intensive methods.
On top of this, every batch of concrete undergoes rigorous on-site strength testing to guarantee its durability before it leaves the factory. This includes a strength test when the pool is first removed from its mould, then another test seven days later. Not all precast pool manufacturers have the capacity to do this level of quality control, so it’s something we’re very proud of.
When it comes to our concrete mix, the proof is in the pudding. Our pools have a compressive strength of 50MPa compared to some other precast pools with a compressive strength of 40MPa. So, if you’re looking for concrete strength and durability, nothing compares to a Plungie.
We use iAuditor technology to track and record progress at each stage of production. This ensures that no detail is overlooked throughout the production process and streamlines our product support enquiries. If you experience an issue with your Plungie, all you need to do is quote the Unique Reference Number (URN) found in the skimmer box, and we can retrieve all the details we need to assist you.
With these quality assurance measures in place, we can confidently guarantee that every Plungie is engineered to the highest standard, minimising the risk of issues occurring during or after installation. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

When it comes to experience, no one compares to us. We’ve manufactured more precast concrete pools than any other company, with thousands of Plungies delivered across Australia. Over time, we’ve gained invaluable knowledge that has helped improve our quality control standards and put us a cut above the rest.
Our expertise goes well beyond the factory, too. Our friendly customer support team has the knowledge to answer your questions and ensure you have a stress-free pool-buying experience. After all, a pool is an investment, and we want to give you peace of mind knowing that you’re making the best choice for your project.
In construction, time is money. That’s why we developed a revolutionary production process that allows us to produce premium concrete pools in a matter of days, not months. While it can take other precast pool manufacturers up to 12 weeks from order to installation, we have the capacity to deliver a pool in just 10 days. What’s more, our lead times aren’t impacted by peak periods, so you’re guaranteed the fastest lead times in Australia all year round.
We understand that a pool is an extension of your personal style. That’s why a Plungie offers more options for customisation than your average precast concrete pool. We give you the flexibility to choose between a raw concrete interior that can be tiled on site, or our ecoFinish internal coating. With six shades to choose from, ecoFinish provides a customisable pool finish that is durable without the need for grout cleaning or tile replacement.
We’re so confident in the durability and structural integrity of our precast concrete pools that each Plungie is covered by a 10-year structural and internal ecoFinish warranty. This exceeds the industry standard, with other precast concrete pool manufacturers offering a 7-year warranty.
When you’re dealing with a supplier rather than the precast pool manufacturer, there can also be a disconnect between the warranty offered by the two parties. For example, a supplier could recommend installing the pool on a crushed rock base, but this installation method may not be covered under the manufacturer's warranty. At Plungie, we have clear installation requirements, so there won’t be any nasty surprises when it comes to warranty claims.
Some pool manufacturers will argue that you don’t need to install a precast pool on a levelled concrete slab base, but we don’t settle for anything less. Along with comprehensive soil analysis, this installation method ensures the safety, stability and longevity of your pool. By starting with a solid foundation, you can rest assured that your pool will be secure for years to come.
For all of these reasons, we’re proud to be setting a new standard for precast concrete pools. Contact our team to secure the best precast pool on the market for your project.
We won’t settle for anything less, and neither should you.
