After such a successful partnership last season, Plungie is delighted to once again be the exclusive pool supplier for The Block.
Last season saw childhood sweethearts turned renovation power couple, Steph and Gian, take out the top prize, after their house went for the most under the hammer.
It’s no surprise that the eventual winners of their entire show were also the winners of The Block Backyard challenge, and it’s definitely no surprise their winning backyard contained a Plungie.
Remember their stunning use of an above ground Plungie Original with Kona Coast ecoFinish? Revisit it here for another look at what was deemed the best backyard on the show in 2023.
Contestants this season have a lot to live up to, but it’s already looking like this year is going to be extra special, with The Block 2024 being the 20th season of the show. To mark the occasion, The Block is switching to island time, with the show relocating to the stunning Phillip Island for this season.
Located just two hours outside of Melbourne, the drive isn’t too far for Plungie, and we’ve packed up and headed out to Philip Island to rekindle our match made in renovation heaven with The Block and its contestants.
With the change of scenery comes a change of circumstances and a new set of challenges. One of those is the site conditions of The Block 2024. Being set on an island, the water levels of the land, as well as the soil type, meant there were a number of challenges that needed to be overcome.
It wasn’t just the contestants who were up for the challenge, Plungie was too - with a selection of pre-cast pools designed to be seamlessly integrated into any project There’s a reason Plungie was again chosen as The Block's pool supplier: they can be installed fully in ground, fully above ground, or semi-recessed.
The aforementioned site conditions of The Block 2024 meant that all pools had to be installed either semi-recessed or fully above ground.
Luckily for the contestants, Plungie not only navigated these installation restrictions with ease, but delivered high-quality pools, with stylish options and ecoFinish colours, on time.
Let’s take a look at how each couple utilised Plungie’s versatility of both install type as well as finish, to fit their project.
House 1: Maddy & Charlotte
Install type: Above ground.
Finish: Kona Coast.
Size: Studio.
The youngest team to ever compete on The Block, sisters Maddy and Charlotte showed age is no barrier, while Plungie simultaneously showed that site conditions aren’t either.
Opting for an above ground installation and a Kona Coast ecoFinish, Maddy and Charlotte utilised Plungie’s versatility to create the ultimate entertainment area.
The two sisters really made the most of the above ground installation option for their Plungie Studio for their incredible backyard project, as you’ll soon see on the show!
House 2: Courtney & Grant
Install type: Above ground.
Finish: Mediterranean Blue.
Size: Studio.
Husband and wife team Courtney and Grant decided to make the most of Plungie’s seamless above ground installation.
Complete with a stunning Mediterranean Blue interior ecoFinish, Courtney and Grant installed their Plungie so guests can either go for a dip, or lounge beside it.

House 3: Ricky & Haydn
Install type: Semi-recessed.
Finish: Kona Coast.
Size: Max.
Loveable larrikins Ricky and Haydn really showed off the versatility of Plungie’s install options with their backyard build.
Unlike the first two teams, Ricky and Haydn decided Plungie’s semi-recessed install option was best suited for their project.
Proving that if you can’t decide between fully in ground or fully above, you don’t have to! The boys used a semi-recessed Plungie Max to create a stunning pool area, for both fun and relaxation.
House 4: Kylie & Brad
Install type: Semi-recessed.
Finish: Perle Noire.
Size: Max.
Proving Plungie’s can be installed to suit any vibe, Kylie and Brad have opted for a more intimate and tranquil approach than the other contestants.
Kylie and Brad have also shown off the versatility of the special Perle Noir ecoFinish interior, using it to show off their install option of a semi-recessed Plungie Max.
The parents of four from Far North Queensland, showed people from the Sunshine State certainly know what to do with pools, particularly ones as versatile as a Plungie.
House 5: Kristian & Mimi
Install type: Semi-recessed.
Finish: Sahara Sand.
Size: Max.
Kristian and Mimi’s wedding went viral on TikTok last year and now they’ll be hoping their backyard on the Block 2024 will too! By making the most of one of Plungie’s three highly adaptable install types, they aren’t doing their chances any harm.
The third consecutive couple to use a semi-recessed Plungie Max, Kristian and Mimi have ensured the Plungie itself is the star of the show.
We’ll have to wait and see whether their backyard goes viral on TikTok or not, but with a superstar pool like the Plungie Max, taking centre stage, anything is possible!
