Evaporative Coolers supplied by Rinnai* work on the principle that they continuously replenish the air inside your house with air from outside, cooling and filtering the air from outside as it passes through the appliance.
Under normal conditions, the outside air is ‘fresh’. However, the current devastating and unprecedented bushfires have resulted in periods of very poor outside air quality. With this in mind, Rinnai/Brivis recommend you do not operate your Evaporative Cooler during periods of poor outside air quality.
Residential Split, Ducted and ‘Add On’ Air Conditioners supplied by Rinnai* recirculate the air already inside your house, cooling and filtering it as it passes through the appliance. As the operation of these types of Air Conditioners does not result in air from the outside coming inside their use during periods of poor outside air quality is at your discretion.
Portable Air Conditioners supplied by Rinnai* replenish some of the air inside your house with air from outside. As per our recommendation for Evaporative Coolers, Rinnai/Brivis recommend you do not operate your Portable Air Conditioner during periods of poor outside air quality.
Note that as a general rule, outside air will replenish the air inside a house over time as a result of natural ventilation and regardless of whether a Cooler or Air Conditioner is in operation or not.
