When award winning architect Phil Harris from Troppo was asked to design a house at Wategos Beach in Byron Bay the brief was to create a home that had an open layout, invited the outdoors in, provided deep protection from the sun whilst creating outdoors spaces open to rainforest, beach and sky views. The original house was dug into the hillside, dark and unventilated.
