A year seems to be such a great expanse of time, but when it is nearing the end, it all seems to have passed incredibly quickly. What a year 2020 has been.
It all began with much excitement and anticipation as we began to celebrate our 10th Anniversary but were suddenly encountered with deadly wildfires, flooding and then the COVID-19 outbreak.
Against the backdrop of the global Coronavirus pandemic, the events of 2020 brought new challenges no one was prepared for, changing the way we live, the way we work and how we connect with each other.
As we reflect on this year as business owners, we would like to pass on our thanks to our team, our suppliers and our clients for what has still been a successful and productive year.
Before we finish, we have chosen to wrap up 2020 with some of our good news stories and a sneak peek of what is in store for Safetyline Jalousie in 2021.
During the devastating wildfires we adopted 10 koalas from the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie. With our support they have received excellent care which has allowed them to heal and flourish. The hospital has kept us updated on their recovery and rehabilitation with the majority of them now released back in their home ranges.
We also participated in the CEO Dare to Cure taking on hair raising challenges including jumping in a tub of snakes and an ice bath. The event had initially aimed to raise $700,000 for vital childhood cancer research. We are incredibly happy to announce that over $1 million was raised by the participating CEOâs and their supporters. A fantastic result for a very worthy cause.
Given the unparalleled hardships that business owners have experienced since the onset of 2020 we were incredibly honoured to win an Asia Pacific Stevie Award for Innovation in Construction and Manufacturing. We also took out the win at Sydneyâs Young Entrepreneur Awards in the Property and Construction category.
In terms of product innovation, this year we released our SmartAir system in conjunction with our automation partner Blue Squared. SmartAir offers a post pandemic solution for architecture which will be key in creating safer buildings. The fully automated, tried and tested complete turnkey solution improves air quality by monitoring temperature, Co2 levels and humidity. The system naturally ventilates spaces by monitoring internal and external ambient temperatures, automatically locking out AC. SmartAir incorporates morning and night purging options to cool the buildings fabric during unoccupied periods reducing air conditioning energy costs. The system also utilises wind and rain sensors to automatically close the louvres without the need for user interaction. More importantly the SmartAir System meets the requirements for air filtration in enclosed air-conditioned spaces. This ultimately improves the health and wellbeing of building occupants and eliminates the spread of airborne diseases while reducing power consumption and costs.
Performance has always been Safetyline Jalousieâs core strength and value proposition. We are constantly innovating to exceed expectations, not just meet them.
So what can you expect from us in 2021?
We will be releasing âReduxaâ a low carbon, greener and cleaner aluminium and the first of its kind in Australia. Using renewable energy from water, wind and solar, Reduxa reduces the carbon footprint per kg of aluminium to 4.0 which is less than a quarter of the global average. The goal is to use as little energy as possible to create high quality aluminium products that are designed to reach clientâs sustainability goals and meet the demands of ever more climate-conscious consumers.
Furthermore, we are also in the process of developing our thermally broken louvre window. This new product will be available in the original 135mm blade and a larger 240mm blade and will offer building designers further flexibility and improved performance.
In addition to these exciting product developments, we will continue advocating for Australian manufacturing and raising awareness around the importance of sourcing locally made products to stimulate our own economy before sending funds offshore. We are now committed more than ever to growing jobs and improving health and environmental outcomes for generations to come.
Our office and factory will be closed for the festive season from Friday 18th of December and will re-open on Monday 11th of January.
Thank you again to all of our supporters and we look forward to working with you in 2021.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday break.
