Prefabrication is an umbrella term that covers a range of different systems and processes. These include structural, architectural and services elements. It refers to any part of a building that has been fabricated at a place other than its final location.
The Pre-fab building sector has been gaining significant momentum in Australia in recent years. Builders, suppliers and tradespeople are recognising its value as an effective construction method, decreasing overall constructions costs, saving time and innovating where possible.
The industry currently represents 3-5% of Australia’s $150-billion-dollar construction industry and is anticipated to grow to 15 per cent by 2025, potentially creating 20,000 new Australian jobs and adding $30 billion to the country’s economy.
Prefabrication, or offsite construction, has been promoted in the Australian Construction Vision 2020 as one of the eight key ‘visions’ to improving the efficiency and performance of the Australian construction sector.
As a manufacturer and supplier of pre-fabricated window systems, Safetyline jalousie shares the same vision and is advocating for this industry that is transforming our built environments by decreasing construction time frames and construction waste while increasing quality, productivity and affordability.
This month, Safetyline Jalousie has joined PrefabAUS – the peak body and hub for building prefabrication across Australia. PrefabAUS works with manufacturers, architects, building designers, engineers, and other construction professionals, government agencies, and regulatory bodies to support collaboration, innovation and quality information sharing.
Our aim as a member of PrefabAus is to work alongside like-minded industry professionals to advance the industry here in Australia, providing the consumer with increased choice coupled with a strong commitment to advancing our manufacturing sector while reducing our environmental footprint through quality, sustainable building materials.
