Every year, landscape gardeners and designers of outdoor spaces gather to create unusual experimental gardens in the grounds of the Chaumont-sur-Loire castle, during the international garden festival. For this competition, the Lyon-based agency Archigroup proposed a concept based on the use of water and oyas, earthenware jars well known from amateur and experienced gardeners. Archigroup chose to develop this principle on a larger scale, creating giant oyas made of metal frames, covered with Soltis Proof 502 fabrics and evoking the shape of a pomegranate. These shade cloths were selected to allow rainwater to be collected and to take advantage of their flexibility to shape the desired form.
