How to revalorize heat-set selvage scraps?â
Many wastes are considered unusable, whereas some can represent a real resource. Within the framework of the upcycling project led by @Léna Micheli within the Serge Ferrari group, the issue of heat-set selvedge scraps is examined. This concept, which is more artisanal than previous ones, has the primary objective of giving a second life to Batyline's cuttings, which represent several tons of waste per year within the group's production lines. The idea is to reveal the irregularity of the selvedge weave: by a game of braiding, its random color mix creates different interesting patterns. Realized by associations or craftsmen partners, these wefts could find their initial destination, i.e. the dressing of furniture, or be transformed into separation panels. The goal is to unite different actors who usually don't have the opportunity to work together so that everyone can become more virtuous.â
